Franco Matticchio's Cat Illustrations

I remember this book I read when I was a child. It was about a cat going about its day, staring out the window, drinking some milk and doing whatever it is that cats do. Now that I think about it, it sounds like the most boring children’s book ever. But what I remember most about it is its black and white illustrations and how they added a certain ‘moodiness’ to the story.
I can’t really describe it but something about it captured my imagination.

These cat drawings by Italian illustrator Franco Matticchio have the same kind of ‘oddness’ to them that reminds me a lot of the illustrations in that book. I really like them and I don’t even know why.
